In This Month’s Adventure…
Apparently, I’ve become the person neighborhood wildlife comes to when things go sideways.
Earlier this month, in another edition of “Stuff I Didn’t Sign Up For but Will Always Step In When Needed,” I found myself rescuing a baby bunny from Morgan, one of the feral cats I feed.
I went outside that morning to feed the cats, and there was Morgan, proudly carrying a baby bunny like she’d brought me a present.
I chased Morgan around until she dropped her prize. I scooped up the bunny, brought him inside, and gave him a careful once-over. There was no blood, and I couldn’t find any visible puncture wounds, which was a huge relief. But because cat saliva can be dangerous to rabbits if the skin has been punctured, I wasn’t taking any chances.
A quick search led me to a wildlife rehabilitator only fifteen minutes away. I called, explained what had happened, and headed over with my unexpected morning passenger. She examined him and gave me the best possible news: no punctures. One very lucky little bunny.
So Morgan lost her prize, the bunny got a second chance, and I added “bunny rescue” to the growing list of things I apparently do now.
And speaking of growing lists... Because of Logan is eight years old! I can hardly believe it’s been eight years since Logan’s story made its way into the world. To celebrate, Because of Logan is on sale for the next three days, and it’s also available to read in Kindle Unlimited. So if you haven’t met Logan yet, or you’ve been meaning to revisit him, this is the perfect time.
